The life and death of songwriter Eddie Hinton, one of the most troubled artists in Soul Music, are portrayed in a documentary -Dangerous Highway - in which the narrator's voice belongs to one of his disciples, Robert Cray. With a personality mixing a true talent to human fragility, Hinton has left an amazing legacy of songs, albums and demos, scattered everywhere and randomly published through the years, as a testimony of his greatness. This documentary, in its bare minimalism, is a professionals' work for professionals, which evokes Hinton's painful life path with love and dedication. Despite the time gone from his untimely death, a strong sense of disarray rests with those who tried to help him out. Porretta's festival, which hosted him in 1991, through this documentary – in European exclusivity -
wishes to pay tribute to Hinton's constant inspiration and his willingness to fight personal frustration notwithstanding limitations of all sorts. A gifted musician, his huge empathy from the others and his artistic talent has been shed light on all those Soul music lovers.
