Music Maker’s boss Timothy Duffy has thus disclosed several great artists of the Deep South, whose fate will anyway remain marked by poverty and marginalization. Guitar Gabriel, Beverly Watkins, Captain Luke and Cool John Ferguson, who is playing guitar and piano in this CD, are among them. Essie Mae Brooks is on par with these great musicians: she is a stunning gospel singer bringing passionate urgency to the melodies. Cool John, a perspective guitar axe, offers inspiring piano support to Essie Mae and results here more confident than ever. Though quite uncommon in these days, this is music you can’t forget! This album, all songs are terrific, is too good to be left for Christmas afternoon extravaganza, you would risk to listen to some gospel sipping Margaritas on the beach…
